Electrical Continuity
All Cablofil® couplers are tested and compliant.
The full results of these tests are available upon request from our technical department.

Fundamental to providing safety to people and property, electrical continuity also plays
a role in EMC performance of an electrical installation.

Definition
The electrical continuity of a system is its ability to conduct an electric current. Each system is characterized by its resistance R.
If R=0 Ω : the system is a perfect conductor
If R is infinite : the system is a perfect insulator
The lower the resistance of a system, the better its electrical continuity.

Cablofil® Couplers
Under test, the Cablofil® wires exceed the requirements of standard IEC 61 537 which impose a maximum resistance for the cable tray of 5 mΩ/m.

The test consists of passing an electric current in the system (cable tray + couplers) and of measuring the resistance of the coupler.

Test Results

082 mΩ on average for the Cablofil® couplers, i.e. 50 to 80 times better than the requirement given in the standard.

Under the requirements of standard IEC 61 537, the couplers must have a maximum resistance of 50 mΩ.

The advantage of having excellent electrical continuity
Even at the same electrical potential each part of the cable tray helps dissipate any fault currents and therefore:

Guarantees the safety of people and property:
This is achieved by avoiding any risk of electrocution.
Promotes good EMC within an installation:
The metal structure of the cable tray absorbs some of the electromagnetic disturbance and converts it into noise current.
